Nicholas Bredimus, an Inventor Who Changed Our Lives

The revolution in airline travel and hospitality was triggered by Mr Nicholas Bredimus, who combined them with the computer software industry to develop new procedures. He has done everything from creating software programs that automate resource and time intensive processes to advancing aircraft safety and designing high value houses.

And, in each case, his passion is evident. It could be predicted, though, that given his family tree he was a sure bet to reach distinction. Its lines can be traced back to the glory days of Rome and in fact Bredimus' ancestry has associations with much of Europe. Within the maternal branch, on the one hand, he descends from Scottish and German lines. His father's family, however, has its roots in Luxembourg and England, which is where they migrated from toward the end of the 19th century.

Naturally, following emigration to the US, they upheld their work ethic and zeal to go far. Born one of seven siblings - four girls and three boys - Nicholas would be born to a father working as a design engineer, and a mother who earned her living as a nurse. He settled for a time in Texas, Kansas City, Arizona and Virginia.

Nicholas has stepped up to the challenge of high powered posts within businesses throughout the airline sector - the bulk of them acclaimed brands. Trans World Airlines (TWA), Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines - these airlines would all at different times name him as a vice president. Even taking that into account, however, the airlines have felt the need to thank him all the more for his innovation in software design.

His outstanding innovations in the field of aircraft maintenance management programs, now commonplace throughout the entire air travel sector though initially produced for one specific firm, ultimately resulted in what is still his most popular piece. He would next examine recording and making reservations. For both flight and room bookings he developed programs to take on much of the work required before this approach. Afterwards he published QuikTix, an automatic, networked system for ticketing which stands as a first.

He leveraged these successes to move into positions not related to software development, and went on to excel. Nicholas Bredimus was division manager for American Express' renowned IT wing, founded Bredimus Systems in 1988, and became the first president of AMR Travel Services. Right now Mr Bredimus has withdrawn from his airline connections and from coding, but he's still making the most of his skills. You'll find his work now advancing architecture - blending the demands of top notch quality with increasingly sophisticated technology and authentic ecological concern. It's truly astonishing how far drive can carry you...
